Cedar Waxings Pigging Out
Lens: DA* 200 ƒ2.8 either the Pentax 1.4 or 1.7 TCs Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Whitney, Ontario, Canada ISO: 400 Aperture: F5.6

K-3 and DA*200, by itself, with the 1.4 TC or with the 1.7x AF adapter. No stacking was needed today.
ISO 400, ƒ5.6 , AV

It's getting to be fall and the fruits are coming rises, which is perfect time for waxing to pig out. Tess found this bush on her morning run and sent me out to get pictures. She's my loyal scout.

There were 30-40 birds in this flock, all I had to do was stand there and wait for one to come close. Chasing was not allowed, they'd all leave. Moving your camera was not allowed, scratching your head was not allowed, but int eh end, worth it in my opinion.

That was good.......

The 4th image is wonderful, like an Audubon print.

I agree 100% with that comment. Excellent series again Norm. Very well taken.

EDIT - I think #4 could be a contender for the PEG Gallery Norm.

Nice shots. I see those (Cedar Waxwings) occasionally. Their color is so nice.

Beautiful photos! In the spring here in South Dakota, cedar waxwings will come through and gorge themselves on apple blossoms.

I hate the disappointment of getting rejected.

The variation of colour of the various birds was pretty surprising as well.

I've been here for 8 years, this is my first decent pictures of them.

I love the context in the last picture, all those berries.

Absolutely awesome images, I agree 100% that photo #4 is the best one. It just... well... It just got that fleeting "something" in it, it "talks to me". Whatever
All the others are also great. Beautiful lighting by the way.

I'd love to say I arranged the lighting, but, it's all natural light. Yjamls for commenting.

Great images.
What fruit were they eating? Seems like a handy tree or bush to plant somewhere nearby.

Those are choke cherries, and they need a lot of sun. But you think like me, I'm hoping to clear out some bush behind my house and put in a row of them behind the feeders, near the blind. I'd like to put raspberries , black berries and blueberries on the hill near the blind and then choke cherries and crab apples along the top, but we're talking a 5 year project. I've been trying for years to get Cedar Waxwings...then it turns out, all you have to do is find the bush they are feeding on that day. There was a flock or 30-40 birds, sometimes 15-or 20 in the tree at the same time.

Outstanding images. Patience pays off, it usually does.
We're seeing increasing numbers of waxwings here, as the villages and home owners plant more fruit-bearing trees. I'm glad to see it, and hear them everywhere.

What I meant was - good position, utilising the soft, natural light. Keep up the good work!
