Out walkin' the dog
Posted By: mel, 07-23-2008, 04:29 PM

Okay Rosemary here you go!

I have been ever so jealous of the fantastic color Rosemary gets out of her camera so I decided to take my camera with me on my dogwalks yesterday, deliberately seeking out color. I shot mostly bugs and flowers. I know I don't hold a candle to the bug and flower shooters on this forum, this is totally overkill and some are a bit soft, but maybe these will be enjoyed nonetheless.

That means you did pretty darn good... I like the colors of the first, and I am a sucker for the dragonfly on a stick in the last one , but my fave slides into Gary's territory at #7... it is the silky flower with the butterfly that works for me. What kind of flower is that? Gary you should know....

I don't recognise it but it's cool looking, wouldn't mind knowing what it is.

Why thank you sir! I've been trying to get a dragonfly for some time as I think they are the world's coolest bugs. This is the first time one sat still for me.

The dog? Uhhhhhhh. I've posted her a couple time on the pet a day thread so I figured she's had enough attention. Yeah. That's right. (and thank you)

It was a small tree or large shrub, I'm not sure which. I'll go take a picture of the whole thing and the foliage in a bit and post them. They're all over the place here.

Thanks. I used the lens I use for pretty much everthing it seems, the Quantaray 70-300. It will do a 1:2 macro at the 300 end. The hard part is holding it steady enough to not be blurry (these are all handheld). Especially while trying to manage a labrador on a leash.

I really like them all, nice work. But where is the dog? If I'm out walking my dog and have her on a leash, I find it nearly impossible to get close up shots like you have here. She usually ends up plowing through any beautiful flowers to get a better look at what I'm trying to shoot. Bug shots, not even a chance! You must have a very well behaved dog.
