Thank you my friend! The F-5 is one of my favourite aircraft! There are a few good opportunities to see them still in service before they retire...

Awesome capture. Was this an air to air shot?

Thank you mate! No, it's from a mountain top with the planes often flying at your level and many times diving below! If you love aviation and haven't seen what the Axalp live firing is about, just do a google search and enjoy (photos and videos - videos here are more impressive cause the sound is what matters!). You can see more photos from my K-5IIs on my flickr gallery too

Nice shots on the flickr!

I watched about 2hrs worth of Axalp video on youtube. Awesome stuff, especially when they run up the face of the mountain and roll inverted and disappear over the peak. Thats got to be a heck of a ride

Thank you! If I sum it up about Axalp live firing events, I would say:
* Quite difficult to get up there!
* You need good photographic equipment to get nice results that makes climbing even harder! (more weight on your shoulders). Taking just a good small camcorder might be a great idea. It's the first time that I really wanted to have a 600/4 lens (and someone to carry it on the top for me)
* The scenery is so beautiful that it worths the effort even just for admiring the view!
* The airshow is so different and full of adrenaline due to the continuous action! For some hours aircraft formations (usually of 3 or 4 planes) appear out of nowhere and after making hit runs from various directions, as you said very well, they disappear pulling Gs behind rocky mountain tops or down the valleys! Difficult to describe the sensation but you got an idea from the videos!
* You meet many friendly guys up there from all over the world that you can talk during the breaks and while getting some rest for the climbing down!
Overall great experience! I hope I have the chance to go again sometime in the future
