Can someone identify this bird?
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 07-24-2008, 08:25 PM

I happened to see it land on the fence in our backyard, the K10D had the 50-200 on it and I got a few quick shots before it departed and I have not seen it since.

It is about the size of a robin

Thank you Dan, that was my first thought but when none of my books showed an immature Robin I figured that I was wrong. Thanks again for the link.

Take care,

Man ... how close were you? I can never get a good shot of any robins with my 18-250 without them flying away.

Don't really know, 12 - 14 feet I guess, the image is cropped. The robins are not that shy around here, but than at times I have 50 birds of various flavour in the backyard.

Thanks Dave, I was less than happy with that shot. Just a quick grab with the 50-200 to document it, wish I would have had time to get Bigma.

Take care,
