I would suspect it does indeed have to do with the light this was taken with the DA 16-50mm at 50mm f9.5, 1/1500 ISO 100 - maybe others can explain the physics. It does indeed look like a fisheye effect ...

The title of your thread caught my eye. I shot an interview with a well-known song writer who said he saw a lot of similarities between the prairie and the ocean. It was the sense of boundlessness in both that appealed to him.
Thanks TaoMass - I enjoy all types of Landscapes - as an airforce brat have lived near oceans , rivers , lakes - last 30+ years here in Alberta. Alberta has a great variety , parairies and the rockies. I do like the ocean but I am a good plane ride (or a 14 hour drive) away (but get to one ocean usually at leat once a year!)
