Nice! Have you been to the Needles at the north end of the lake? Washington rock is a great place for night photography, it has some huge tufa formations. (The road beyond Warrior Point can be rather rough.) You won't need a 4X4 but a spare tire or two isn't a bad idea.

Actually, you can't get to the Needles. It's close to the public but Monument rock, Washington rock. or just north of there gets you a very nice view of the Needles.

Thanks for the info. Next time I will probably go to Monument Rock to shoot sunset. Went to that place a few months ago to shoot some stars and came back disappointed due to heavy winds and dust. I should probably have checked the weather forecast. Sigh! Do you shoot at Pyramid Lake? If you are in Reno I recommend joining BS (Best Shot) Photography group on meetup. We go out quite a bit as a group.
