Concrete City
Posted By: DeadJohn, 10-19-2016, 09:57 AM

These buildings (approximately 16 total) were constructed in 1911-13 for mine workers. They became unwanted in the 1920s but proved too sturdy to demolish. One legend claims 100 sticks of dynamite were used on one building without any significant damage.

The buildings still stand today in various states of disrepair. Most of the damage seems to be related to shifting foundations. Buildings that remained vertical are in good shape. Buildings that tilted over time have crumbling walls, floors, and stairs.

The day joints, the horizontal lines between pours are beginning to open up, probably through the action of frost and weathering, if nothing happens to them in a few more centuries they will fall back into the landscape, be rediscovered and become an archeologist's puzzle. Very nice documentation.
