China Lights
Lens: 18-135 Camera: k-5 Photo Location: Whitnall Park, Milwaukee

The Milwaukee County Parks are producing an extensive China Lights display at the Whitnall Park gardens in Milwaukee. The figures are produced in China and then assembled on site. Here are 5 images from our visit last night. The crowds have been huge so finding a spot for the tripod and then hoping for no people in front of you made it a bit of a challenge, but a fun outing.

Well done. That is challenging to get pictures of.

Why was it at this time of year? One of the times they traditionally do this is a little earlier than this, about a month ago, for the Full Moon Festival.

I have seen very similar lights in several places in east Asia.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm not sure of any reason for the scheduling - it has been running the entire month of October - extended into early November because of huge crowds, and now planned for a rerun next year, so a very successful event.

That means it is probably prompted by the Full Moon Festival.
