Coworker's daughter
Posted By: clarenceclose, 02-14-2007, 08:25 PM

Caught her on the way out the door and asked her for a few shots.
Most photogenic subject.
This is done in High Key.

C&C appreciated.

Low key is a photo that leans heavily and deliberately toward the dark side.
High key is the opposite, going toward the lighter side.
High key works best with blonds and lighter subjects.
Some would judge it to be overexposed but it is a post processing work, not overexposed, originating as a color photo, converted to black and white, lightened and selectively dodged and burned.

Well done. I wonder how it would look with the frame a bit smaller.

Maryland to Idaho...if my geography is right, that's quite a distant drive.

I thought being asymmetrical is more beautiful than symmetrical when it comes to fashion models... Apparently being asymmetrical leaves a better impression in our brains.

A nice girl and well executed in PP. Does it speak to me? In a way. The classic style makes it easy to look at, it's a picture one can recognice and she can show it to her friends with pride.

For my personal taste... I miss the contact with her. She is looking away and not interested in the beholder, amused by something else that we don't see or know about. Now there isn't much to do about that when choosing this pose. But that's personal. I would also move her a bit to the right, but still keep her to the left of course, and have a more narrow frame. Yes, I know, we are different about frames, see:

Congratulations - it feels good taking a short series of pictures of somebody incidentally like that and be able to deliver this, doesn't it!

regards,
