With the arrival of this guy we, in N. America, know what he means...

Nicely done.

I've been trying to take pictures of our local juncos, but haven't captured anything worth posting.

And yes, we know what's coming!

Grey and Brown all the way here

Is it a Dark Eyed Junco?

NO mention of them here either.

Nice shot!

I'm also curious about the green eyes? I know there are several forms of Dark-eyed Juncos in N. America, but I thought they all had dark reddish to dark grey to just dark eyes. We pretty much get only the Slate-Colored where I am, so my experience is limited (I would have thought yours was a Slate-Colored one though).

It just needs a white balance done on the chest... my curiosity got the better of me.... I frequently have the same issue, the light filtering though the canopy can actually be quite green. Like putting a green gel in front of your light source.

The eye is strikingly green. I've never seen an iris pick up coloured light that way.

Yes, and it stays green even with a white balance. I've looked through about 20 Junco images where I can see the iris, and they are all brown. I can white balance the feather grey and the bill pink, but the eye remains green. it's a mystery.
