First time working with Caroline, and it was a bit of luck since we got a pretty calm day about a month ago, so we had lots of opportunities to shoot outside

Thought you had the model floating (levitation) in the first image...

As always from yourself a fine brace of images.

Hey Thomas,

I know you shoot with the DA 70 and the FA 77. I am interested in both of these lenses, but specifically the look you have in this photo is what I am going for. Do you find the FA 77 has a better look than the DA 70? Could you achieve the same look with the DA 70? I ask because the DA 70 (original) can be purchased at a very low price used in USA.

Great work btw. Love it!

Hi!

The DA70 and FA77 are both really good lenses, but I use FA77 most of the time. These shots would look somewhat similar with the DA70, but the FA77 shot wide open will get shallower DoF / more blur in the background, and it has a bit more character to it. Perhaps not technically better in all aspects but a bit more personality So I would say the FA77 is better for portraits, but it will cost 2-3 times more... I have written reviews on the forum for both. I don't think you'll be disappointed by either.

Thank you for that. One more question. I think I saw you use use a range of cameras including Sony and even the K-1 if I am not mistaken. Is there any reason you keep returning to the K-3?

Hmm, I like to try out if the grass is greener on the other side No Sony's (yet) or K-1 though. Current cameras are Pentax K-3 II & K-01, Olympus OM-D E-M5 and Fuji X-Pro1. They have all strengths and weaknesses, but all are good cameras I think. For me DSLRs are still more predictable for AF, long battery life, generally more reliable I think. I shoot some weddings and there two K-3 bodies are my main setup, but for more casual I tend to go for the OM-D. I like Pentax menus, DNG, utilitarian approach, and think they have some pretty nice lenses too.
