A Few Macros...
Posted By: Slick, 07-29-2008, 11:01 AM

I was bored sitting in my hotel room the last couple of days so I went out to the some bushes outside the hotel and got these. Best macros yet but nothing compared to what I've seen others post. Just thought I'd share a few.

All were hand held (shouldn't have been lazy and used the tripod ), K10D, Kiron 105mm Macro, some with flash, some without. Only cropped, no other PP because this laptop is too slow to do it on.

Gonna try it again tomorrow WITH the tripod.

Those sure are sharp for being hand-held. Nice series.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. They aren't great but I like 'em...

As promised, here are some with the tripod. I also used the remote for a few just to see if it would make it any easier or less shaky. It was more of a pain than anything. It was also a little more windy today so that didn't help.

About the lens, It's a fantastic macro lens. I bought from the marketplace here a while ago. I believe it's also the same lens as the Lester A. Dine 105mm. Heavy, but worth the weight.

Wow, those are all quite good. The Kiron 105mm Macro works well. Sharp with great color!! Thanks for sharing.

I think the tripod shots are indeed sharper - but nothing wrong with those hand helds. Well done.

Thanks again for the compliments.

I like using the tripod but in a way it's easier to do it hand held. It's tough to catch the flyers when using a tripod. When they land it's not for long and the focus on the lens is long so it can take quite a few turns to get them in focus.

Fun stuff anyways...

I'll tell ya, this is probably the best lens I own, definitely the sharpest, and I'm glad I bought it every time I use it. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I would like to get a Series I 70-210 someday. I've bid on a couple but never won one.
