White Squirrel
Lens: DA* 300 Camera: K-50 Photo Location: Columbus, Ohio ISO: 1000 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F4
Posted By: ramseybuckeye, 11-09-2016, 09:40 PM

I was at Blendon Woods, a large metro park in Columbus and earlier I had talked to another photographer that was staking out a tree where he saw pileated woodpeckers the previous day, and he said he had seen an albino squirrel in the same area. I hiked to a different part of the park, but came back to this area a couple of hours later. On my way back I happened to run into the photographer again and he had some nice photos of the woodpeckers that had returned. I proceded to the area and hung around for about a half an hour, no pileateds but suddenly this white squirrel came out of the dense brush. It was not a bit hard to spot of follow him visually. I'm afraid t's going to be an easy target for a hawk or owl.

Don't let Otis and his merry men spot this fair "skinned" lady... there could much trouble among the ranks.

Very cool! I agree, his days are numbered. Might generate some offspring though. Don't be surprised if there is one to take his place.

All our days are numbered. No one here gets out alive.

That's a great shot, albinos are so weird looking, in a neat way. I saw a albino deer by a place I used to work at, it stood out a mile away but was smart enough to hang out were hunting was not allowed.

interesting find, but not an albino. Albinos have pink eyes. This squirrel is leucistic.

Although it is hard to see in these shots, I believe this is albino and its eyes are pink(clear).

What do you base this on? They look convincingly dark in the posted images.
