Odd Shots
Posted By: zeek10d, 07-31-2008, 05:07 PM

Was an assistance for a friend taking food shots for a resturant menu. I must say, Pentax metering seems to be better than 30D. We were using my 540 & 360 in slave 2 mode, they can sync ok with Canon 1/250s^^ Don't think I can post my food shots, but here's what I can share^^

Your food images are really well done. I know from experience that it isn't easy. Great work.

Thanks. I was there mainly to advise on the flasg and lighting setup, as the main photographer (a friend) wasn't good with flash. Food photography is kinda new to me^^;

I like the series. They are all well taken and this can be a challenging subject. Not crazy about the ashtray for subject matter but a good shot. Water glasses are very good, too bad the left one is so close to the frame. Great shot on the cutting board and the last food shot is very nice but maybe lacks a little contrast or too bright?

Very good shot of the church. I always enjot these types of shots.

Thx. The cutting board lighting was set for Canon 30D 1/250s. I did not re-adjust it for Pentax system, it was just a fun shot for me^^

I took the shot trying to find flare. But I had a really hard time getting flare with Tamron 17-50mm even direct shot or at an angle to the sun >.<

It's a nice lens for non-FF system, but if u are considering FF, I suggest u go for Tamron 28-75mm f2.8^^ The Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 & 24/28-60/70mm f2.8 are also nice lenses, just need to master them to get the result u want^^

I basically agree with the previous comments regarding DOF and cropping. A nice series to check out!
