Inspired by "Jens Lyn IV", I remember shooting some photographs for a travel Mag back in 2012. Of course any pictures of or about Lübeck must include the Holstentor and Marzipan, both of which are the two most famous attractions in Lübeck.

The two round tower parts of the building actually lean into each other as they were build on, I was told, wooden foundations.

The inscription above the gate translates from Latin into English - "Harmony at Home, Peace Outside".

I might post some more from Lübeck at a later date if anybody is interested.

Cheers

Holstentor appears to lean in about 40 different directions, depending on your perspective...

I've never really seen Lübeck in the summer. I spent a day there when I was five, but all I can remember is being frightened by someone speaking German gibberish to me.

Thanks for telling me.

Lübeck still has some very old buildings but unfortunately a lot were demolished also.

The Holstentor was completed in 1478 and Town Hall records show in 1863 it survived demolition by only one (1) vote. Close shave.

I attach one more photo which shows a seldom photographed angle of the building which is the side facing town.

Cheers, and thanks again
