Animal Inmates
Lens: HD-DA 16-85mm Camera: K-3II Photo Location: Norway
Posted By: Janse, 12-16-2016, 05:06 PM

Today I visited a prison island, near Bergen. (The second largest city in Norway). It is nothing compared to Alcatraz, this is a low security prison. Of course it was not allowed to take photos of the prisoners. Happily there were some beautiful sheep there.

I would never post images of sheep here on the forum, for fear of all the associated comments...

Thank you so much for those kind words. Yes, my employer recently bought two cameras, a K-3II and a K-1 for educational purposes. My self is thinking of buing a new Pentax camera, but I won't choose the K-1 I think. The big sensor will collect way to much dust.

Ok. Then I have done something very stupid. Do you advice me to remove the post?

I don't think you did something stupid! I am guessing, but I think it has something to do with de combination of Scottish people and sheep and a very specific kind of humor. Wonderful photo by the way!

No not at all, that's where sometimes humour gets a little lost in translation, especially so in my case, as the old Kerrowdown's humour is often a little suspect, my apologies.

Aye you nailed it in one, but it's a Scottish persons understanding, that maybe one of the other home nations in the UK has it worse than we do...

I'll risk it. We had a saying where I grew up in Wyoming about a state to the south of us. "Utah, where men are men and sheep are nervous."

I don't understand this saying. Could you please explain to me? We also have a saying in Norway: "Stupid like a sheep". (I totally disagree in this statement)

I'll just say that it can get awfully lonely in the mountains and leave it at that.

Great composition and juxtaposition. Makes for a very successful photo overall IMO!
