Although it's bright and sunny outside, it's - for me - stinking cold, with the temp still in the 30s (F), a combination that is very rare in SE Texas. So here I am, stuck inside with a new camera but without the guts to face a windy, cold day. What to do? Well, read a Louise Penny novel, then photograph it where I laid it on the floor before taking a lunch break.

Beautiful photograph Jer. Has a 1930's 'look'.

One of my wife's favourite authors is Louise Penny. Ms. Penny used to be a local broadcaster in our part of the world, before she turned her talent to pen.

BTW, I share your aversion to the outdoors at the present time, for the same reason. It's cold out there....both there and here.

Right now...here... it's sunny, clear, snow covered and about -20 C.

Les

My wife read a sentence...thinks the book is the Nature of the Beast.

Hey thanks, Les - that '30s look is just what I was seeking.

Our temperatures are way crazy for SE Texas - this morning I woke up to 28F (-2C), and the birdbath was frozen solid. Help is on the way - tomorrow we're expected to enjoy a high of 70F.

And your wife is spot on; it is indeed the the Nature of the Beast. I'm a real fan of Penny's books - she cooks up an amazing stew of fantastic characters, comedy, mystery and pure evil. Amazing stuff.

Hey, EM - I'm sure you've heard the Beach Boys song:

"I'm diggin' the good redactions,

Politicians are hiding their actions"
