Long exposures.
Posted By: blwnhr, 08-03-2008, 08:47 PM

I was sifting through my shots looking for items for my portfolio and found these. I thought I would share them. I've given the location, should anyone come to Tasmania.

I took these back in June 2006 with the Pentax *istDL I had at the time. All shots were with the Sigma 18-125.

The first shot is at Kings Bridge looking south-west toward Penny Royal.
30mm focal length, 11.7sec exposure, f/8, ISO-200.

The second is from the northern end of the Charles Street bridge looking south toward Customs House, Jackson Ford and the Seaport.
30mm focal length, 39.6sec exposure, f/27, ISO-200.

Shot 3 is from the northern end of the board walk, Home Point, looking south toward Park Street. Richies Mill can be seen on the extreme right.
21mm, 13.2sec, f/9.5, ISO-200.

Shame about the flare in the first one, but the other two worked great.. I like these types of shots, you have given me the desire to do some more myself ;-)

If only its wasn't so cold here at the moment..

Lovely photos.

May I suggest using this site to place your photos with precision on a map? Just place your mouse over any of the blue markers to bring up a thumbnail and then click on any interesting thumbnail to see a larger version of the photos. Exploring some shots from around your own area may even provide inspiration for some places to visit for your own photo excursions.

Nice shots.. I like them all

visited there a couple of times and stayed at Penny Royal last November.

That is right next to the infamous Cataract Gorge brings back fond memories

I'm actually not bothered by flare on #1 - gives the shot an other wordly appearance. I enjoyed all three - congrats on your patience.

The starry appearance of the street lights on #2 worked well too.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

@ Joele, perhaps if I excentuated the flare it might be better. (FWIW I don't mind it, but agree it is neither there nore gone and could be distracting.)

Others may not agree?

But personally I like that better.. As you say before it was a distraction that to me didn't add any interest to the photo..

I do still like the other two more

That's the beauty of photography, it is all about personal taste. Thanks for your input mate.
