Antarctic Iceberg
Lens: Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Camera: K-5ii Photo Location: Southern Ocean, Antarctica ISO: 320 Shutter Speed: 1/60s Aperture: F3.5

I finally checked Antarctica off my bucket list in 2016!

I took my Pentax gear to the Western Antarctic Peninsula during austral winter as part of a science expedition. Some of my best shots were of the massive floating icebergs; during a snowstorm, we launched small boat operations (zodiacs) off our icebreaker and I managed to snap this photo as we zipped through the broken sea ice.

Looking forward to more photographic adventures in 2017.

I love the colours of the inky blue sea and the ancient blue ice of the berg.

So simple, but really effective. Transports the brutality of nature onto the screen.

Like the sharp angularity of the bergs this image, not seen like this that often.

Beautiful! The colors are as much a story as the context.

As iceberg shots go, this ones a stunner... the sharp angular shape of this one sets it aside from the others.

It looks a bit like a broken ice ship, beginning to sink.
