Grand Canyon Sunrise
Lens: DFA 24-70 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Grand Canyon ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/6s Aperture: F9

The Grand Canyon received over a foot of snow last week, so I headed up there to do some shooting.

This was from Wednesday's sunrise where wind chills reached near 0 F. I had to be careful not to breathe on the back of the camera because it would form ice crystals, especially on the eye cup.

With K-1 and DFA 24-70

Great - - well there you go, I did not know that it snowed in that area ! Like most Australians, all the photos we see show it looking like a hot desert !

The Grand Canyon gets about 2 feet of snow a year, but usually in 1-2 inch increments that last about a day. The last time this much snow was on the ground was 2008. I managed to make it up there then, and have been waiting for another snowfall since.

About 2/3 of AZ is desert and the reason you see mostly cacti is because 90% of the state population lives in Phoenix and Tuscon. 2 very desert-y climates.
