Originally posted by Kerrowdown I wouldn't be surprised that with a bit of a tune up, it's old Black Diamond six could be coaxed to life.
Back in the '70's our old Cornbinder (as IH trucks were endearingly referred to by many a Canadian/American farmer)....medium duty farm truck would start fairly quickly after a long winter's nap in the utility shed. My FIL would swap a few spark plug leads on the inline six engine...start it up, rev it a bit and the resultant backfiring from swapping wires...would cause it to backfire and belch out black smoke and carbon build up. After a minute or two of this...he would shut 'er down and connect the plug wires correctly and the old truck engine was ready for another season of heavy hauling grain on the fields and to the nearby grain elevator.
That old truck would take an enormous amount of abuse and keep on coming back for more.
