Flowers
Posted By: KungPOW, 08-06-2008, 06:21 PM

Here is some colour from the gardens of my hometown.

Photography flowers is a little new to me, so comments and constructive critcism are most welcome.

I think my PP work is a little dark. Maybe I should work in a better lit room?

Thanks for looking!

Eric.

Hi Eric,
you mean like a 'light room'.... sorry, couldn't resist.

They are all very pleasant to look at, but the 6th one leaps out at me, really like that.
cheers

I agree that most of them are on the darker side. Personally like 4 and 7 the best =) I think 7 could use a bit of cropping though. I say crop out the left bud and make it a portrait.

How about this for a re-do of photo seven? Its the same flower, but from a photo with less depth of field. Recropped to isolate the single flower.

Nothing more practice won't hurt.

I am amazed (even more than usual )...I first viewed these on the office laptop, a 5 year old Toshiba Satellite.

And now at home on the LG Flatron, the difference is staggering!!!
Still like No 6 but the others are much, much better on this monitor.
Cheers

nice series, Eric, I enjoyed it. My favorite is #5, with the water drops.

Great shots, I like the 2nd one best. The composition and colours really work in it. Also the fifth shot where the red stands out of the grey background. Wonderful stuff.

The 6th one stands out for me - I like the lighting.
Truly though they are all very nice flower shots. As for being dark, they are just how I like plant pictures, too! Seems to have more depth somehow.
However, if you were to print them out for a calendar or something they might look better lightened up a little.
