Don Quixote and Sancha Panza
Posted By: Gooshin, 08-07-2008, 02:09 PM

when i was a little boy i used watch various spanish soap operas translated into russian on television, i was like 6 and didnt really care much for the show itself, but there was one about either Don Quixote or something to do with that time frame.

I never really knew much about Don Quixote, but my mother at the time just gave me a quick rundown of the story behind this troubled man chasing windmills, and something about it appealed to me, particulary the way the intro that this soap opera had, with little stick figure men chasing windmills,

later i realized that this was a parody to Picasso's work.

many years later i'm over at a friends house and they have this picture in their kitchen, and the kitchen walls were white, so i overexposed, and then did some lightroom editing (no photoshop) to blow out all the white... anyway this is a result... a little peice of my childhood weirdness making its way into digital form.

again, please make a note that THIS IS INDEED A PHOTOGRAPH, with NO photoshop aside from overexposure, reverse vignetting and some playing with the blacks sliders, all done in lightroom.

taken with a 16mm Zenitar Fisheye

The Cervantes book I read as a child (!) which is pretty unusual when you consider how long and bawdy it is. The Picasso is quite a famous drawing. Saw it first when I was maybe 14 years old.

"a little peice of my childhood weirdness making its way into digital form"

Cool.
