I like the first one! I'm showing some really bad banding in the shadow effect, though...is anyone else seeing this?

It's my first attempt at photo image editing. Forgive my ignorance, but what is banding?

I could be wrong but, banding I believe is the rough transition between light and dark areas in the photo (can be caused by PP vignetting). It looks like circular light transitions between light and dark - rather than a smooth transition.

Could be how the photo was imbedded in the post to. I believe banding can also occur when you drop the dpi down for online viewing.

The 2nd shot has my vote. The spot light works well with a grandeous perspective.

I prefer to look up to something and make me feel in awe

Thanks. It was a huge flag. The American flag always makes me feel in awe. I tried to get a different perspective by standing underneath it.

I see the banding too, but overall not too bad attempts. Keep trying

Ahh... I think I see what you guys mean by banding now. Especially around the left side of the pole? Thanks so much for all the comments!
