Texture

I found the texture quite appealing. An ordinary snapshot. But the recent refurbishment of the building bring out the original colour of the older period.

Is that marble on the building? Whatever it is, I agree that it has taken on a lovely patina over the years. Dave

I really like the shot and undulating earthy colours. Is it my eyes (use glasses now) or is this photo a little soft?

Nice shot James you can indeed see the subtle colors coming out. I agree though about the softness - could be the downsizing.

Cool James.
Colours are bold in this scene.
And you got there before too much bird poop accumulated on the sculpture...

Those are beautiful colors, almost like tortoiseshell.

Just some slate not marble. Otherwise it would not be left standing there like that for so long

That is the look typical from Fa* 80-200 where it does backfocuses. But in this shot where the aperture is f8, this is the kind of look from old * series lenses. That kind of undulating uneven look to a surface where some might call 3D. A different kind of 3D effect.

In fact, it is not soft when a close crop is made. Overall, it seems dreamy soft. So this is the only reason why I am still keeping this zoom. Something different.

Sometimes accurate colour balance and rendition are not necessarily good things for photography. This is why pentax gear can be a fun tool to use under ordinary circumstance.

Millions walk underneath the building each day. Sometimes it takes a bit of effort to notice the building itself.

All the erosion from pigeon poos can be so damaging. Some old pentax lenses do render high contrast with that kind of special look.

You are definitely right about that. In real life, it looks a little dull and plain...
