Birds this week
Lens: Tamron SP Af 300 LD {IF] Camera: K-3 Photo Location: My back yard ISO: 640
Posted By: normhead, 03-04-2017, 03:07 PM

It's been cold and the birds have been flocking to the feeders. Cold means they have to spend more of their day eating, as opposed to whatever they do when they aren't eating, which I expect is sitting in the trees singing from the sound emanating from the woods around my house.

Downey wood pecker

Blue Jay

Goldfiinch male

White Breasted Nuthatch

Female Goldfinch

Pine Siskin

Female Purple Finch

Black Capped Chickadee

Seen but not photographed.

Male and Female Evening Grosbeaks (this morning when it was way to cold to sit out in a blind) 3 males 3 females, Hairy Woodpecker (male and female), one Redpoll (this afternoon).

It was -32ºC last night poor little guys.

Brrrrr. They'd be a lot better off in balmy Antarctica: Mawson, Ant - Daily Weather Observations
Albeit no-one feeding them.

More fine shots Norm. Have you counted your fingers to see that they are all still there?

There got a little chilly. I know you're supposed to be able to do this in the old, I just haven't figured out how. Anything thick enough to keep your hands warm won't let you operate the camera. I messed some great images while blowing warm air through my right hand warming it up.

Just keeping up with you eaglem, I have birds, ice and snow, you have flowers, you can only shoot what you have available.

White breasted. And refresh didn't help. The link I'm seeing seems to be broken in two parts, like this.

Hi Norm, as always wonderful bird images, thank you. BTW, Nuthatch and female purple Finch are not showing here.

Lately we have absolutely no birds at the feeder except one that is not even supposed to be here especially in the winter month, a Brown Thrasher. Here is a not so good image taken from inside the house, that bird is very skittish impossible to get an image from outside.

I didn't even have the link posted for that one. I'm going to have to hire you guys to proof read my work.

Given that I don't think I've ever seen that bird in the wild, it's an awesome picture.
