Now these are sharp images...

So sharp in fact I'm confused why I can't see the cottons, which hang them from the ceiling like they did when I was wee.

Nice shots. I got to see a F-22 years ago, it put on a great display. They never should've stopped building it, we (the US) should've got the number of planes the air force originally wanted. Instead we are left with that train wreck of a program known as the JSF.

It was an amazing display. The JSF is a different beast. As it happens, I visited a museum on Friday which had a video about the development of the F111, where the US tried to make a single aircraft for both Air Force and Navy. The Navy version was never accepted because it was too heavy for carrier landings. It seems that the lesson wasn't learned; the JSF tries to support three forces with one airframe and as a result isn't ideal for anyone.

Oddly enough, the Australia F111 aircraft were fitted with an arrestor hook, which was used at least once to arrest a belly landing.

Thanks Bob! They were very loud, even though I couldn't get through the crowd to the edge of the strip.

They're great, Rob. It took me about fourteen hours to get to Avalon, though.

Jack of all trades, master of none. The B model for the Corps and the Brits put to many limitations on the A and C models. The B model should have been a completely separate aircraft. If they ever do get it working as promised it could be great but at the price will it be worth it.

We had the F-22 flight demo team perform at the Pax-River last fall.
Impressive indeed. Alien tech...

At the last show the F22 was only a static display, so it was worth the trip to finally see one in the air.

I have to say I didn't notice it when I was there, but it's certainly clear in the photos!

Agreed, the VSTOL should have been a different aircraft. I had the impression that a lot of the delays had to do with requirements surrounding the VSTOL version.
