I like the way you're not afraid to keep solid blacks in this shot...not every shot has to have evened out tones...well done Vieri.

Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed the photograph and the post-processing. Yes, since it is shot inside a cave where it was pretty dark, I thought it would suit the mood better to leave the image dark (and, I am not a fan of HDR in general anyway ). Best regards,

Vieri

Thank you for sharing this unusual composition with us; your camera did an excellent job of getting some detail from the rock inside the cave entrance, which adds to the beauty.

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it and I am very happy that you liked my choice of NOT going for that horrible HDR thing that seems so popular these days

I have mixed feelings about HDR. Sometimes I use in-camera HDR to extend the DR of my Q-7, and it looks quite normal, and I just have to adjust contrast using "Curves" within gimp, but there are some people who use HDR in PP that do end up with some rather dreadful things.

Well, to me there is a difference between opening a bit the shadows, and slightly expand the DR of digital cameras at times, which I don't have much of a problem with. What I really loathe is the garish, plastic-fantastic, completely cartoonish HDR effects that we see - or used to see - so often around. Luckily, that trend seems to be fading away to oblivion (which is where it belongs, IMHO).

Best regards,

Vieri
