-30ºC is good for fractal window ice
Lens: Tarmon 90 macro Camera: K-1 and K-3 Photo Location: My house ISO: 100 Aperture: F8

K-1 and Tamron 90 macro
100 ISO, ƒ8, AV (1/60-1/160s)

Just when I think it might be the last one of the year, we get a -30ºC morning in March. We usually have a day sitting out drinking beer on the porch by March 8-10th. Not this year.

Standing back a bit for the window scene...

I'm wandering around in shirts and t-shirt over here... playing the pipes outside.
We get a call of 0°C to around 5°C this week, so keep your -30°C!

At least the cold led to some interesting photos.

It was also a little colder in the house than I like, but at least I didn't have to be out in it.

If -30ºC is what it takes to keep you bagpipe playing types away from my house, I can live with it.

Aye but not much else...

Meanwhile there's some quite stunning pieces of imagery here.

I left the K-1 in the a car last night, The first thing that happened after I brought it in was, it froze my hands. I was in the house but I seriously needed mittens.

It's a long time since I've seen this stuff. Everybody has double glazing and the winters have become milder over the years. Cool!

The replacement windows are in the basement, this might be the last year.

I can't extract any EXIF information from these photos, if you don't mind me asking, what were the lighting conditions that you got such great contrast?

We had melting temperatures up until a week ago so 95% of the snow was gone, then got hammered with a 3 day snowstorm, followed by -20 or colder. I was talking to my son in Toronto two weeks ago while he was in a Tim's and he had his winter coat on. Time to start predicting another ice age.

The basic set up is there is arrow of tees, which pretty much block the early morning sun, But sun was coming through them hitting parts of the window. So some bits of the use was in shade and some was in sun. Many of these images the histogram went off both sides of the chart. I prefer even earlier morning light when the contrast isn't so high and the sun is lower/
