Reculver towers and shoreline

The medieval towers of the ruined church of St Mary at Reculver, they were added in the late 12th century to a church founded in 669, when King Ecgberht of Kent granted land to Bassa the priest for the foundation of a monastery.

Good choice for B&W. Thanks for the history too, I am always amazed at how things that old manage to survive.

absolutely right - if you search out some of the film footage from the tests you can see the church towers in the
background.

the tide goes out quite a way here, and I believe that they could wade out and inspect/recover the test bombs to
work out if the construction of them would survive..
