Can I have a Whistle?...........
Lens: 18-250mm Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Canon City, CO
Posted By: Bob Harris, 03-16-2017, 11:11 PM

.....seemed to be the question everyone was asking when the Wienermobile pulled into town. I looked at the line and remembered that I had gotten one clear back in 1957 when I was just a kid, my Mom still has it in her display case along with my Gene Autry pocket knife . What a surprise for us to see this favorite still around in Canon City, CO., bringing joy to the children and me too of course.

Thanks very much, Bob, for posting your photos!

Here is a link to a website which provides some information and mentions availability of more via Twitter and Instagram:

I enjoyed photographing a Wienermobile years ago at the student-run International Auto show on the Northwood University campus in Midland, Michigan.

I remember seeing the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile many years ago as a youngster...can't recall where....St. Louis seems to ring a bell. But I don't know for sure....details that long ago fade.

Gene Autry pocketknife...a memory too. I didn't have a Autry penknife, but I do recall back in the '50's, again as a youngster. getting my very own penknife, eventually when I got older getting a folding jackknife. They were part of growing up as a boy in Western Canada back in the 1950's and early '60's. I still have my old jackknife. The blade is broken, but it brings back some pleasant memories.

thank you so much for the information, looks like they have quite a busy schedule. This brought back so many memories when I was younger.

I got the knife when I was about six years old, too young to have it of course, at least that's what my Mom said and she kept it. It was forgotten by me and she was going through some old boxes and found it. I told her she could borrow it until I was responsible enough to have it. She still hasn't given it back.

Great shots, buddy. I didn't know these things were around anymore. I certainly remember them, but I'm not sure I've ever seen one in the flesh.

we actually had this pull into our grade school back in the 50's, seeing it in town brought back many memories.
