Many thanks EM. I do now see some purple fringing on that one branch. I get that every so often with the Takumar F 70~210mm Lens. Perhaps I should open up to 5.6 to get a bit more blur?

Purple fringing comes from too much contrast in the surrounding area and a bigger aperture. Does the Tamron have a hood?

I have a Sigma 400mm that purple fringes really bad, but using an aperture of f8 or f11, and a hood minimizes PF.

Nice flower shot Tony.

Yes, I do have a hood for the Takumar, and will be sure to use it even indoors. Thank you very much.

On my lens I found that shooting in any sunny area caused more PF than say cloudy or subdued lighting. So, I try to avoid strong sunlight or buildings behind my subject that are lighter in color than the other surrounding area.

Hope this helps!

Are you referring to your Sigma 70~300mm? The reason I ask is because I do get PF on my Takumar 70~210mm, but not on my Nikon AFNikkor 70~210mm whether indoors or outdoors, regardless of the lighting conditions. The Nikon is an old world film camera lens and still produces great photographs. Just lucky I guess.

Thanks again.

No, it was the lens I posted about in that message above. I don't get PF with my other Sigma lenses, neither the 70-300mm nor the 100-300mm.
