Gazing at a Gator
Lens: DFA 28-105 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Brazos Bend State Park
Posted By: Sailor, 03-20-2017, 09:26 AM

During our visit to Brazos Bend State Park last week, we came upon this gator lying at the edge of a small lake. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately ) he (or she) was facing away from us towards the lake, so I was limited to shots from the side and from behind.

You'd be surprised at how fast they can whip around on ya, Jer. And, then, there's the "death roll". <shudder> Nice series, though!

I think they always face the water if they are not actually in it.

Cool! I like the last one the best. That must have been fun! How big was it?

you got way too close as far as I'm concerned, the closest I want them is if I'm wearing them on my feet. Nice shots though btw bud.

Thanks much. Normally, I stay clear of 'em (they show up on streets and parking lots around here occasionally), but I couldn't resist getting shots this close up. I looked around to assure my self that I could run faster than some of the more rotund folks around me.

I'm betting you're right - their route of escape. Of course this fellow (or gal) most assuredly was under no threat from me.

Thank you, very much. I'm gratified you said that; the first two are snapshots, but the last one was a considered composition emphasizing the curve of his (her) body.

Thanks, brother Bob. And, yeah, I'm even dumber than I look.

Thanks much, Susan.

And you're right. I would've stumbled over this guy had not Connie and daughter Robin spotted him (or her).
