the Buck Stopped Here
Lens: 18-250mm Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Canon City, CO
Posted By: Bob Harris, 03-22-2017, 06:16 PM

I went outside to take photos of the snow earlier in the year and this buck was walking down the road coming towards me and got to within about ten feet when I snapped the photo. He stopped for a minute and just starred at me, as if wondering what was in my hand. We do have deer in our area but this is the closest that one has come to me.

Must be lovely having critters like these casually walking around the neighborhood Bob. Excellent capture buddy.

I'll tell you Al, it sure surprised me he got that close, maybe he was just taking a shortcut home.

and what's sort of odd Peter is that we don't have that many other kind of wildlife around here, not even squirrels to eat the wiring or coyotes to eat chickens in the area.

you done good!

that is the thing about mule deer...they don't go right to "run like heck"
usually a whitetail will give you a couple of tail flicks and disappear

I have noticed in town deer are more accepting of our presence,,,regardless of the species

we've got all mule deer in this area, no white tail that I've seen. Some of these guys can get quite big, I stay out of the way during the rut.

they seem quite comfortable here in town, my wife gets irritated with them, they seem to enjoy roses for a quick snack. Yesterday we had five in her garden, haven't seen her move out the door and yell at them that quickly, ever

I think you're right Jer, I just hope he doesn't want to come in and stay overnight.

He seems to be on a mission. Judging by the swollen throat I think I know what it is.
