My first impression was also like they were pics from distant galaxies
They are equally great! Micro cosmos like macro cosmos! I like these!

I would have to agree with the rest, Dan. 2 and 3 do look like a far-away galaxy. They're excellent, could you explain what they are and how you got there.

Would make an excellent "What is this?"

The last one has a lense in the background?

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

These shots were taken in a forest about 45km away from where I live. Basically in the middle of nowhere. The friend I was with discovered this little spider (no more than 1.5 cm in length - feet and all).

What amazed me was the shape of its web - it was a dome, and the spider hid under the dome to protect itself from the water - genius!

The extra colour of the pictures was the result of water's prism effect with incidental light.

JC, to answer your question - Yes, that is my friend's Leica 14-50 lens hovering ominously right in front of the spider's home.

All shots taken with a K100D + Sigma 18-50 "kit lens".

They are very cool in deed, Dan. I was trying to figure out how you did it until seeing the last shot

It wasn't hard at all. I'm glad you like the shots.

@ Damn Brit - never was a big fan of Bowie, though I did like his collaboration with Queen.

agree with Jimbo, they have a outer space feel about them. Different, but beautifully lit. Well done!
