These shots were taken in a forest about 45km away from where I live. Basically in the middle of nowhere. The friend I was with discovered this little spider (no more than 1.5 cm in length - feet and all).
What amazed me was the shape of its web - it was a dome, and the spider hid under the dome to protect itself from the water - genius!
The extra colour of the pictures was the result of water's prism effect with incidental light.
JC, to answer your question - Yes, that is my friend's Leica 14-50 lens hovering ominously right in front of the spider's home.
All shots taken with a K100D + Sigma 18-50 "kit lens".
