Eastern Tiger Swallowtail & Bouquet (2 imgs)
Posted By: sajmmiller, 08-10-2008, 08:24 AM

Went out yesterday to test my new Promaster 1.7x teleconverter with Tamron 90mm macro. Captured a lot of butterfly shots, but have only had time to process one so far.

Tamron 90mm macro + Promaster Spectrum 7 1.7x teleconverter for 153mm + onboard flash:

Some flowers my wife bought at the local farmer's market.
Tamron 90mm macro, tripod, bay window + room lighting + black background:

Hope you like them. Comments always appreciated.

That are two very nice images Scott, looks like that lens is going to be just fine. Thanks for posting,

Impressive images Scott. It looks like this combination is going to work very well for you. Thanks for sharing. I need the inspiration to do more work with the tcs I own.
Oh, and just a wild guess on your comparison shots...is the second one the shot with the tc? They look just about identical to me though.
Wow...thanks for your kind words LaRee!

I think I would have guessed the same as you. However, the TC shot is actually the first one. I was very surprised by how closely rendered the 100% crops are. I think this just shows that the human factor, at least for me, is more significant than any quality loss from the TC. I'm extremely pleased with this TC and think it will add some useful flexibility to my kit.

Thanks for playing the guessing game.

Heinrich,
I do appreciate your comment! So far, I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of this teleconverter / lens combo.
