Why my DA* 15-50mm still surprises me
Posted By: gawan, 08-10-2008, 09:48 AM

My DA* 16-50mm has become my first choice of a walk around lens. While it is mainly a wide to normal lens suitable for general landscapes and people pictures, it has a potentiality to be a great close-up and moderate telephoto lens if you just crop a little:

These are about 60% crops:

Wow, I would think that second one is taken with some tele lens, at least 200 mm! Or that squirell is just so fearless?

Yep, me thinks you got a winner!
A fine lens used in not the usual way - but you've shown its versatility.
Lovely shots.
Thanks for sharing.

Quick calculation in my simple head would suggest it equals something like 100mm That squirrel actually was quite fearless and was about ten feet away from me.

Thanks, this was a very young one, they get darker and more "robust looking" when getting older.

Thank you! This lens also gives me headache sometimes when shooting messy objects wide open, so I am glad to see its glory once in a while

These squirrels sure do, they sometimes nearly "attack" people having peanuts or at least come and eat from their palms! This one was obviously checking me out
