Youch!!! That Girl has some serious Mandibles!!! Nice capture, I like the way you got all the tiny hairs.

I didn't want to get too close because most of the time the little blighters were rearing up, but I missed the focus a touch on them. If it would stop raining their getting a dose of ant sand and spray. Don't need them in the yard.

they do look a bit nasty but what a beautiful color they have Trev. Watch where you step/stand.

Just read a couple articles and watched a few You Tube videos of these things.

That is a beautiful ant. But I bet they have a nasty nip with those big mandibles.
