Any Ghosts in the Attic?
Lens: DFA 28-105 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Varner-Hogg State Historical Site

Built in the early 19th century, the Varner-Hogg mansion and its surroundings have served me well with photographic subjects for a number of years. A couple of days ago, I unleashed my K-1 on the place for the first time.

Before photographing a place like this, I often give myself "assignments" to photographically explore themes or ideas. One theme this trip was to generate photos that look gothic or "haunted." Here, I PP'd B&W shots to have the darkish, but not quite dark, look that movies often had back in the '50s and early '60s. Night shooting was expensive then, and many B-grade movie night scenes were simply filmed during the day with filters that produced a shadowy look.

Nicely done Jer. You certainly managed to accomplish what you set out to do. The lighting in the last one is really wonderful.

the home has a haunting feel to it in the first place I think, great subject. I really like the different angles you shot and b/w does really work here.

That would require me to produce a self portrait and I'm not ready to risk my new K-1!!

Thank you very much. I worked hard to get number 5 just the way I wanted it, and 3 is may favorite composition of the bunch.
