Ok. here's a mixed batch of pics from camping this past week. the campground was on the south end of the chesapeake, and our site was beachfront. we spent some days at colonial williamsburg, and jamestown/james fort. good times.

Thursday night there was a big bad storm that was a good deal north of us that moved east across the bay, so I went out on the beach with the tripod and out of the 49 pics i took, these were the only 2 keepers haha:

archaeologists are excavating the actual original James Fort, that was the site of the first permanent english settlement in the new world in 1607. its just down the road a tad from the re-created fort and ships. it's really amazing to have been walking on the same ground explorers did 400 years ago. they;ve found over 1.4 million artifacts so far, and many are on display at the museum there on site. but it was really awesome to see it all happening. here are 2 pics of that, and one of the old church that is built on the same spot/foundation as the original one in the 1600s, except this one was built i think in the 1800s? i can't remember.

Dan, nice series, thanks for posting. I really like the colour in the second shot and the first lightning shot is really dramatic.
