Nature Elephant Seals Spring 2017

I wasn't very pleased with the photos I got the day we saw the elephant seals - the sun was brutal and since we could only see them with a group walk, I didn't have much time to take photos. Still really enjoyed the day. They are great fun to watch. Hope you enjoy these.

1. We enjoyed watching this guy take a nap. He continued to move up as the surf came in.

4. This male wanted to mate and the female made it clear that she was not interested.

The older ones are showing a few scars but that would be expected I suppose.

First one seems to have a number on his back. 52??

Yes, they did have a lot of scars. I read that they grow new skin, but the scars stay for life. Thanks for commenting!

Thank you! Yes, he had a number. Scientist recently tracked them and one of the seals went 3,600 miles and back from California within the same year - almost to Japan. Incredible.
