Death Valley, California, Spring 2017
Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Death Valley

We enjoyed camping for two nights in Death Valley last week, the hottest, driest, and lowest national park in the US. Such an incredible place. We were very lucky with the weather - not hot at all. The first few were taken on our way to Death Valley. It was difficult to pick my favorites so there's a lot here. Hope you enjoy them. If you ever get the chance to go to Death Valley it is SO worth it!

1. A bit of the "superbloom" happening in California at the moment.

No 12 has the best light, nice image. No 21 has the best composition IMHO.

Death Valley is not as lonely as it used to be, is it!

Thanks for the comments. And yes, all of the national parks are being loved to death lately.

very nice photos you have here.
I went there long ago when I was fist in the US. Little as I know back then because I had never seen desert before. With not much idea what to expect, I went there during summer. BIG mistake!

:-) Yes, I've heard you can fry eggs on the ground, it gets so hot! We were very lucky with the weather in the Spring. It was hard to imagine how hot it normally is. Thank for commenting.

In summer, I guess you could fly egg or even do a solar power BBQ on the ground! We drove from San Fransisco to Las Vegas and I got a key holder with small thermometer on it there. then we drove to Death valley. The air temperature that day in the valley was height enough to push mercury inside the thermometer to hit the roof top. Max temperature on the small thermometer is 50C / 122F. That was the hottest day I have ever had in my life.

Wow. That is HOT! The hottest it got for us was one afternoon - 87F - mostly it was in the low 80s and below! Great time to go but the week before it was in the mid-90s so we were really lucky. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for sharing these nice pictures! Zabriskie point is one of my favorites too.

Is the road to Ubehebe Crater and Racetrack still closed?

These shots are great, beautiful work. Would love to be there for bloom season, but I am not a fan of the heat and may never risk it. A friend of mine backpacked through DV for a week, for fun....

Sorry, I don't know. This was my first visit. I did notice that Scotty's Castle is still closed. Thanks for commenting!

I'm not a fan of the heat either so I was very happy that it never reached higher than the 80s when we were there and most of the time it was quite a bit less than that. Really beautiful weather and it's always cool at night. Thanks for commenting!
