I went to the desert for the first time in a long time and I took my camera out for the first time in a long time and I used the 12-24 for the first time........nice lens. And one day I'll learn how to use it properly but with this scenery it's very forgiving anyway.

Really beautiful photographs. I like the settings you used. I have been using ISO @200 with Spot Metering and have little or no Noise to contend with. This lens you used along with the k-5IIs, is a good marriage and truly works very nicely for you. Great shots, well executed. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks TT, 200 certainly saves some grief later on and with some big skies there's enough light. Appreciate your compliments.

Thanks to you all for your kind words. I'm glad that these have encouraged you to consider a visit to Oz! Truth be told, many Australians never make it into the heart of the country. North Americans/Canadians are among the few other nationals who really know what it means to have vast - and we mean vast - distances between places. Adelaide, where I live, to Alice Springs (where these were taken) is a 16 hour drive through some pretty desolate yet beautiful country. These are just 20 mins out of Alice Springs and there are 1000s of kms of wilderness in any direction beyond. Then there are the mountains and rivers of Tasmania, the incredible tropical reefs and forests of North Queensland, the stunning wineries of South Australia, etc, etc, etc...

JPZK, I only wish I had a K1! But the K5-IIs is pretty bloody fantastic and in the end the light and the lens make the picture. I only recently acquired the Pentax 12-24 and this is the first time I've really have a chance to test it out. I've had the Sigma 10-20 - and it's great lens too - but the flare resistance of the Pentax makes the difference.

You have a good eye for landscape.
BTW in my part of the world we would call that kind of country "chaparral".
