Durango & Silverton #482 Southbound through Hermosa, Colorado

This photo was taken in Hermosa, Colorado and shows Durango and Silverton locomotive #482 and itís consist on itís way back to Durango, Colorado in the early evening after a day on the road. The grid pattern on the rails is from the sun shining through the chain link fence. Train was moving toward me at a speed of 20 - 25mph when this shot was taken. K110d, ISO 200, 1/180 second, 18-55mm kit lens set to f6.7 at a focal length of 33mm. Original JPG image processed in Color Efex Pro 4.

I have fond memories of that train ride. We took our three boys and they loved it. Fantastic scenery.

I shoot a fair amount (raw) with my 18-55mm II and I'm happy with it. I'm really impressed with the quality of your jpgs.

Pleased to hear you enjoyed the video. We usually do that trip on a motorcycle which facilitates getting to each location in a more timely manner however that year, due to my lady getting over sickness and reports of rain, we did it in a car. This year we will be back there and on the motorcycle and taking more shots and video.
