Galloping Goose in Dolores
Lens: 18-55 Camera: *ist DS Photo Location: Dolores, Colorado ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F11

During one of our “On the Road Again” motorcycle trips. My lady Sharon and myself on the 6 cylinder Honda Valkyrie Interstate next to the Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose #5 which is parked along side the train station in Dolores, Colorado. While the station is a reproduction of the original the Goose is a nicely restored and working original which can occasionally be seen in operation on the Durango and Silverton railroad. Photo was taken by setting the camera on a post and tripping the self timer then I scampered across the parking lot and jumped on the bike. It took several attempts before we achieved success.
*ist DS, ISO 200, 1/90 shutter speed, 18-55 kit lens set to a focal length of 31mm at f11. Original JPG image reduced for posting.

The "Galloping Ghost" fleet was part of a movement within railroading during the Depression to maintain contractual mail and passenger service without the cost of a steam train.

That's a great photo - crisp, colorful shot of an unusual vehicle combined with a self portrait! Super job.
