When pine trees were brought from the northern hemisphere to see how well they might grow in Australia, some fungi were brought with them. Amanits muscaria (Fly Agaric) is the one which features in fairy tales, and is poisonous. It is supposedly hallucinogenic. Another fungus was brought with Oak trees; the Death Cap.

Thank you! The light wasn't great, and without a mini tripod it was a challenge to get a sharp image.

Nicely done. Correct on both counts. Hallucinogenic and poisonous. Those things taste like a toad peed on them. (So I've been told, of course.)

Definitely wouldn't eat that, but nice capture- you isolated the subject really well, and surrounded it with a pleasing background.

A cool shot of one weird-looking (to my eyes) fungus - I've never seen anything like it! Nice one, Rob.

Thanks Adam! Lying on the ground to take a photo isn't much fun, but necessary sometimes with macro.
