I had this lens for a month now. A good lens as everyone had suggested all along. Cannot really fault this lens at all.

This lens is so small and compact. Really cute in fact. I would not mind to take this lens along to any trip myself.

I did follow a lot of fellow members' advises to take photos stopping down to at least f8 (I hate stepping down apertures though). My last shot is done wide open with ISO 1600. Quite pleased that it is not that bad for sharpness.

Thanks. I found this focal length more appropriate for food photography. Macro of insects from this lens does not seem to have a good reach ...

Hi Jonas. I would not aggree with his opinions (I read that post as well). D FA100mm macro might be soft at f2.8 (not a secret anyway and it is sharp enough for me) but its colour rendition is typically pentax. I have owned a lot of macro lenses costing me a fortune and I definitely found this pentax macro exhibits amazing colour. Contrast is fantastic too. The rest of my whining regarding this lens hunting in low light and lens hood a bit big is just mumble jumbo - trivial complaints.

This is definitely worth every cent!

I saw your shots and your composition is very unique. I love this lens and bring it along everywhere I go (because you can do macro with it and also use it as a telephoto lens - no use of a wide angle in my daily ordinary life)

Tamron 90mm macro is definitely sharper than pentax macro wide open but tamron AF hunts a lot (compatibility issue?) and colour might not be as rich and contrasty comparing to DFA 100mm macro. After all, pentax DFA100mm macro is so small and compact, convinient to walk around just for a walk or dinning experience

I must admit, that I've never been a "brand addict" - never felt a "need" to stick to one in particular, but somehow, the more I use Pentax lenses - more I like them. I've considered Tamron 90mm or Sigma 105mm (which both broduce great results) but next paycheck - my money will be spent on this Pentax lens!

I had been a die hard canon user... There was only one occasion that I did not want to bring my heavy canon gear on a trip. I borrowed DS from Joel (moderator) with an already invested Fa77 ltd in my hand (Joel told me to buy that lens when it was still in stock in bhphoto last year - so I bought it). The photos blew me away. I could not believe a such light weight camera producing these amazing colours with Jpegs and Fa 77 ltd producing just vibrant 2D images that I had never seen for a long time.

Then the pentax brand addiction starts... For me, using pentax gear is all about using pentax stuff if possible. Hehe

Hi Jana. My dad was a chef and he always trained me as a chef since my childhood - for chinese food anyway. My whole family circled our lives around food all the time. My brother was at one stage sitting for a competition for "tasting out the ingredients of several dishes".
