Cormorant at rest
Lens: Sigma 150-500mm Camera: Pentax K-5 IIS Photo Location: Williamstown Beach

Just resting. This bird just sat there for over 10 minutes, not the least concerned by my presence just a few metres away.

Great shot of this very interesting cormorant ... ours sure don't have this plumage (they're pretty much all black).

We also call them Shags although in Australia, the word has another slang meaning that I shall not go into.

Thank you. We also have a black variety. The black ones seem more common on inland waters but I am not certain whether they co-exist or not.
