Rat snake
Lens: Tamron 90mm macro SP Di Camera: k70 Photo Location: The woods of Alabama ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/50s Aperture: F5.6

I stumbled upon a healthy rat snake on a hike in the woods the other day. He was about 4.5 feet in length. He didn't seem to care at all about me. I'd take a pic, then ease a little closer, take a pic, and then ease a little closer again...before I knew it I was a couple of feet away from him. It's too easy to get lost behind the camera and lose my senses--no way in hell I'd venture that close if I wasn't viewing the world through the safety of my viewfinder. Lots and lots of snakes out and about this spring.
