Mt Nelson Lookout - signal station. Tasmania.
Lens: 18-200 Sigma Camera: K30
Posted By: Terry C, 05-10-2017, 01:32 AM

This lookout and signal station was built in 1811, and was in use for 158 years. Its function was to monitor shipping in and out of the Port of Hobart, Tasmania.
Originally it used a three arm semaphore. Now preserved as a tourist attraction. The signalman's quarters nearby makes a great cafe !

Apart from the detail of the building the contrast between the building and the dark clouds makes this shot stand out.
